Transition at Irish National Point Series - Round 1

Round 1 of the Irish National Points Series was held on the 2008 National Championship track
in Cahir, Co. Tipperary. Over 190 riders traveled from all over the country to contest in what
will be, another exciting season of Irish Downhill. 3 Transition riders made the trip to try for
gold.

All day Saturday consisted of practice and settling in to the new team area with the new race
team set up with the Moycullen Bike Works. The weather had not been so kind however as we
had rain for most of the day, making the track extremely slippery and difficult to ride. The riders
fared well as the bikes handled well in the bad conditions. Seanan O'Riordan was out for the
first runs on his new TR450, after the first run it was fairly clear that the bike was a rocket and
that with more bike time and some testing, not a whole lot could stop this partnership. Derek
made himself known to the clouds as he went higher and flatter off the end jump on his Dirtbag
than anyone else in the field, very entertaining! Silvia was hammering the womens field all day
on her Syren while Gary and Eric kept all the bikes in top order through out the day. Big things
were expected come race day!

Transition at Irish National Point Series - Round 1

Sunday’s weather had decided to be a little bit nicer, a blustery day with occasional spells of sun
dried out the track slightly and made it tacky and very drift orientated for the riders. Transitions
riders were loving the conditions and were very happy with their set ups and chosen weapons of
choice. Race runs came and all went without much drama except for the Elite 450 rider, Seanan
O'Riordan who at the top of his run bent his crank to the frame then crashed in the middle section,
still came down into 3rd in Elites only a few seconds off with all the problems. Final runs finished
up with all Transition riders on the podium! Silvia put in a great run and finished in 3rd in Womens,
Derek after being held up mid run came down into 5th place in the Sport Category. After only a day
to get adjusted to a bike with no setting changes Seanan came down the hill only 1.4seconds off
the top step of the Elite podium. A great weekends racing for Moycullen Bike Works and Transition
Bikes.
